Bridal Trivia

There seems to be very few who actually understand or even have a small idea of the rituals that take place at a wedding so I thought it would be fun to do a little Bridal Trivia.
What does Bridal mean?
The term “Bridal” came from the brew the bride and groom would drink, and was referred to as "bryd ealu" or "bride's ale," which evolved into "bridal".
What does Wedding mean?
“Wedding” literally meant the purchase of a bride for breeding purposes.
The word wedding comes from the root meaning to gamble or wager. The Anglo-Saxon word "wedd" meant that the groom would vow to marry the woman, but it also meant the money or barter that the groom paid the bride's father. This is believed why it is still customary for the father-of-the-bride to “give away” his daughter.
“Tie the Knot"
To “Tie the Knot”, came from the Roman times when the bride wore a girdle that was tied into knots which the groom had the fun of untying.
You may Kiss the Bride…
The kiss that seals the wedding is much more than a sign of affection. It has long been a token of bonding and the exchange of spirits as each partner sends a part of their self into the new spouse's soul, there to abide ever after.

Michelle & Brett / The Floridian

Michelle & Brett were married at Wayne Huizenga's private golf course. What a location!! This had to be one of my top five favorite locations. The grounds are simply breathtaking. The entire property overlooks the waterway. The ceremony was on the 18th hole which faced the water. The ceremony arch was a simple curly willow finished with fresh orchids. The arch felt as if it belonged to the space. The cocktails were in the main house which was lavishly decorated and had Wayne Huizenga's private memorabla.
We selected A gorgeous palate of green hydrangeas, hot pink & pale pink peonies, mango calla lillies, hot pink& orange roses, and a touch of orchids as the nupital decor'. The flowers filled the round and square tables with different levels of candles to set the atmosphere of the outdoor reception.
The bride and groom danced the night away with their guests under the moonlight.

Dan & Judy / St. Regis Ft. Lauderdale

Danny and Judy were such a fun couple. I had a "groom crush" on Danny because of the way he loved Judy. They decided on the fabulous and opulent St. Regis for their black tie affair. I loved Judy's palate of green and purple which was perfect for their Spring wedding. Soul Survivor was the band and I have the admit...I was impressed!! The guests danced from the time they were announced in until the party ended. The ST. Regis is the ideal spot to ensure a perfect ten wedding.

Tara & Brad/ Flagler Pavilion Palm Beach

Tara & Brad were such a cute couple!! They selected the beautiful Pavilion at Flagler in Palm Beach for their memorable event. Tara wanted a roaring 20's feel and the Pavilion was the perfect location. The yellow and ivory centerpieces were adorned with crystals and feathers topped the pieces. Gold chairs & accents finished the look of the tables. The waitstaff dressed in 20's attire to complete the "feel" of the event.

Brooke & Brian/ Sundy House Delray Beach

Brooke & Brian were a destination wedding from Arizona. Their families lived all over the US so they wanted a genuine "Florida Feel" so they selected the Historic Sundy House in Delray Beach. I love this venue because I always feel as if I'm on vacation when I'm there. It is almost as if your transported to the Keys. I find that guests are always so surprised when they arrive . It is certainly not your "typical" wedding location. Rather, it is the perfect spot for a romantic wedding which was precisely what Brooke and Brian wanted.

Pandora & Arthur/ Four Seasons Palm Beach

Pandora and Arthur were from Bermuda and wanted a destination wedding in Palm Beach. They selected the Four Seasons as the perfect fit. Guests enjoyed a pre-ceremony cocktail hour and then made their way into the ceremony. The bride selected shades of blues and purples for her colors which were the perfect awakening for the neutral ballroom. I really loved working with this couple because they were really fun and wanted a great weekend experience for all their guests. Someone once told me that you can make a room beautiful, you can select a great band, you can make sure all the details are perfect but in the end..the bride and groom make the experience.

Heidi & Chuck / Flagler Museum Palm Beach

Heidi & Chuck selected the beautiful Bethesda by the Sea church in Palm Beach for their nuptials. The Reception followed at the fabulous Flagler Mansion. They selected gold, silver , ivory and green for their wedding colors which looked MAGNIFICENT in the room. I think Flagler is still my favorite spot for weddings and events.
The cocktail hour was in the Pavilion which overlooks the Palm Beach intra coastal waterway. Watching the yachts go by is only part of the spectacular views. The Lake room is reminiscent of an old Italian building. The menu was Italian based but the miniature cakes served at the end were the surprise!!

Aubrey 60th Bash / Brazilian Court Palm Beach

Aubrey Celebrated his Havana themed birthday bash at the Brazilian Court in Palm Beach. Guests were greeted with mojiotos upon arrival and enjoyed cocktails in the Spanish style courtyard. The tables were dresses with large palm leaves and white calla lilies. Soft lighting created the perfect mood for the guests while they enjoyed the food of a world class chef. The Latin dancers were the surprise dinner show. They showed the birthday boy some great "moves".
